The Board of Directors of the Conseil québécois du théâtre announces the departure of Sylvie Meste from her current position as Director General after seventeen years of loyal service, including the last five years at its head.

The CQT thanks Ms. Meste deeply for her commitment and her enthusiasm in the defense of theatre's better interests, and especially for her committed management of the work surrounding the large-scale project of the development of the Theatre Master Plan. Today, the CQT is an essential player in all political discussions and representations, most particularly in the context of the pandemic, thanks expressly to the efforts of its Director General.

In these uncertain times, the Conseil québécois du théâtre wishes to reassure its members

that we, (the Executive and the Board) are taking all the necessary steps to ensure a smooth transition. The theatre milieu continues to be seriously affected by the current crisis and we reassure you that the CQT is listening, conscientious and working to support our community’s best interests. The difficulties of the last few months have not diminished the creativity of our artists’ in the field.  On the contrary, our theatre world is more tightly knit than ever in its determination to practice its art freely and in all its diversity, to be able to fight for its resilience and to ensure that everyone has access to the best possible living and working conditions. The Board of Directors will continue to work hard to meet the challenges facing our milieu and to represent it in all its formidable complexity.

We wish Ms. Meste success as she takes on her new adventures that will allow her to demonstrate her great passion for arts and culture.
